What is the purpose of OKINVASIVES listserv?

The OKINVASIVES listserv provides a forum for questions, answers, and discussions about invasive species in Oklahoma. It allows subscribers a quick and efficient way of reaching a large number of people who are interested in invasive species in Oklahoma. Post your questions, observations, information on invasive species, etc. Or, if you are shy, just sit back and read the messages as they come in!

Please limit your postings to the subjects of invasive species. OKINVASIVES is not to be used for advertising or commercial purposes. Some useful commands for you to know are explained below. If they are confusing to you, you might try using the web interface explained at the end of this email.

To subscribe to the list, send the command SUBSCRIBE OKINVASIVES-L, your name, where your name is your first and last name, or first initial and last name to LISTSERV@LISTS.OU.EDU

Example message in body of email: subscribe OKINVASIVES-L Lily Flores

To post a message to the list (this can only be done by subscribers, and only from the email account under which they are subscribed), send it to OKINVASIVES-L@LISTS.OU.EDU

IMPORTANT:

The following commands (shown in capital letters) which help you review or change your subscription settings MUST BE sent to listserv@lists.ou.edu

DO NOT send these commands to the list (OKINVASIVES-L@LISTS.OU.EDU), as your command would then go out to all list subscribers and would not take effect.

To review your personal subscription settings, send the command QUERY OKINVASIVES-L

To temporarily stop delivery of OKINVASIVES messages to your address, but remain as a subscriber, send the command SET OKINVASIVES-L NOMAIL

This is useful if you are going out of town and do not want many messages waiting for you when you return. To resume delivery, send the command SET OKINVASIVES-L MAIL

You can always read the OKINVASIVES archives to see what you missed while you were away (see below). To set your subscription to receive a daily digest (one email per day sent out at midnight with all of the OKINVASIVES messages in it, as opposed to getting each message individually as it is sent out), send the command SET OKINVASIVES-L DIGEST To stop digests and get each message as it comes out (this is the default setting), send the command SET OKINVASIVES-L NODIGEST

To have all OKINVASIVES postings identified as such in the subject line of each message, send the command SET OKINVASIVES-L SUBJECTHDR

To unsubscribe to the list, send the command SIGNOFF OKINVASIVES-L

Be aware that clicking the "Reply" button to respond to an OKINVASIVES posting will send your reply to all list subscribers. This is meant to encourage discussion and interaction, the real purpose of the OKINVASIVES listserv. If you wish to respond privately to an OKINVASIVES posting, you will need to type the recipient's address in the "To" line of your email. To use the web interface and/or view the OKINVASIVES archives (available to subscribers only), visit http://lists.ou.edu (do not type www) and type OKINVASIVES into the List Name box. (You may also wish to bookmark this web address for later use.) You will be required to enter the email address used for your OKINVASIVES subscription, and a personal password, which you must choose the first time you log in. You will then be able to browse or search OKINVASIVES archives, and manage your subscription options (including those described above). Be sure to remember your password for future use.
